The game is running. You need to exit from the game before installing. Windows cannot replace files when they are in use.

Mike,From past experiences with other products I found it best just to uninstall the older version before installing the newer one. |

I have all the stats for 101 saved on an external
hard drive. So I will take the chance and uninstall old 101. I never had to do this before with other updates. Could be because this update is different. More later. |

I uninstalled 101. Then downloaded what I thought was supposed to be the new 101. But it is still version 2.02. I must be going further off the deep end than I was before. Wasn't the new 101 ready yet? |

No, the uninstall process does not remove player statistics, nor extra card (or tile) sets. It should be perfectly safe to uninstall/reinstall.
Changing machines, on the other hand... 
On Windows, one can still be safe and use the 'Game->Backup Statistics...' menu option to make a backup (and 'Game->Restore Statistics...' to get them back).
(On the Mac, just backup the '~/Library/Goodsol Solitaire 101' folder, or the '~/Documents/Goodsol Solitaire 101' folder on older versions.)

You may be psychic. A update to Goodsol Solitaire 101 is finished and being prepared for release (later this month, but do not tell anybody ); it will be a free upgrade.
Somebody may have mentioned something about the upcoming version, or maybe you were thinking about the recent update to Most Popular Solitaire, or perhaps the current beta version (for a different, albeit similar, product).

Love may not be the correct word. But I have seasons 1 2 and 3 on DVD and I watch them and the show on tv a lot.
