Years ago, I was pleased to discover Cribbage Solitaire--where you basically just play out cribbage hands and score normally. Seemed like good practice to keep me from being too rusty when I played cribbage against another person (which isn't very often).

I've also heard of Poker Squares (and Cribbage Squares). Are there any other solitaire versions of standard card games?

If not, I may try my hand at inventing some. Solitaire gin rummy seems like a good possibility.

How difficult is Cribbage Solitaire and is it a good way to learn to play Cribbage itself? That is one game I always wanted to play.

Cribbage is not a terribly difficult game, but it does take some getting used to. The mechanics of play are easy; the hard part is learning to count up the points, based on certain combinations of cards. You'll find the rules for Cribbage and Cribbage Solitaire at the links below:

Oops! I gave the wrong link. You can learn *modern* cribbage (six-card Cribbage) at:

Thank you for the link--I will check it out. I was always fascinated with that game and have always wanted to learn it but I had better begin with the Solitaire version since no one around here plays any cards at all---

There are also many places to play cribbage online with other people, btw. A Google search will turn up lots of options, some of them free.
