I play this game at lunchtime and managed to get an 84 which is about 1220. I have saved this as a screendump.

easy: 1223 medium: 1201 difficult: 1197 most wins: 44 (in the easy mode) the trick is no wasted moves, ever, no matter what.

Most of the previous posters are talking about a high score. My program doesn't give a score, just the amount of moves. So can anybody tell me what the least amount of moves possible is for Spider Solitaire? |

I scored a 1218 last night and didn't even realize it until this morning (see image)! Note that I often play while watching TV, and then am usually on autopilot. That must be what happened last night, because I certainly would have noticed the score if I'd been paying attention. I haven't seen the Vista version discussed here, so here is some info on it:

Unlimited undo. Yes, you can back up through deals, too. If you play for win percentage, this means rarely (if ever) losing a game.

resize behavior always resizes the entire GUI proportionally, including the cards. You can't control the length or spacing of the stacks.

Under Vista, I typically play for win percentage. I lost two of the first seven games I played under Vista before I discovered unlimited undo. I haven't lost since in over 3000 games (I play 500 games, then reset scores). I've seen some discussions here on the maximum possible score, but didn't see a definitive answer (though the developers surely know). Maximum points is of course 500+(8*100)=1300, less the moves actually made. The minimum number moves in turn depends on favorable deals, but assuming no favorable deals, it takes 8*12=96 moves to complete all the suits. The five redeals count as one move, though, but place 10 cards on the tableau, so if every card placement in all 5 redeals is favorable, each redeal would eliminate 9 moves for a total of 45 moves. I think that makes the theoretical minimum number of moves 96-45=51, for a maximum possible score of 1249. Did I miss anything? |
