I've got 47 winning numbers for Bastion if anyone is interested. I can't upload the solutions because my computer lacks the paint program, but I could probably give some hints. But once you know they're winnable, they're usually pretty easy to solve. |

Kathy,you don't need "Paint" to upload solutions. The PGS software does it for you in a straightforward manner. (Paint is used for uploading screenshots). Check back here later and I'll leave instructions. Expecting a joiner any minute now so it may be quite late before I get time.

Kathy. Just go to the top left of the screen where you are playing the hand. You will see the name "Game". Click on that. It will lead you to another page that has in the list of things "
Save As". Click on that. Then another screen will come up. In a little box at the bottom will be the number of the hand you are playing. As we have said before. Just add a notation after the game number. I usually just put a 1 then 2 and so on. Or. Hint1 Hint2. You can also wait until you get almost to the end of the hand and save there. If you solve it. You will have to go back and start all over with the hand. Richard will add some more info when he gets himself back together. |

I think you already know how to Save a game but here is a recap. Opening a saved game is practically identical. From there it is simple to upload to the forum.

There is a bug in Bastion. I'm not going to tell you what it is meantime. It should be fixed in the 12.3 version which Gregg says will be released fairly soon. |

Richard, I've been trying to improve my stats in Bastion, but seem to be getting nowhere. Should I wait until the bug is fixed or just keep on trying? Just would like your opinion. I have won quite a lot, but my score always seems to stay within the same range. |

The problem is a bug in only PGS [Windows]; it does not affect PGSME (and Bastion is not in any of the other games).

With most bugs Kathy it makes it easier to win games. There would be no better time to improve your Bastion stats. My revelation will result in some deals being more difficult to win. |

This is what I got. What did I do wrong? There was no copy function after I opened the game and so I just saved it to the desktop. When I uploaded it, I got the above message "pop...." |

No, Kathy, it does not matter if you have Vista or XP.
Click Save as.
Type a name you can remember and which is for the game number you mean.
For example Bastion_2084488063_Kathy.pgs (I don't remember, if you need .pgs).
Remember, where you have saved the game. There is normally a Goodsol folder somewhere on your PC, where your games are automatically saved. Best way is to save it on the desktop.
After that click on Upload Attachment, browse for the saved game which should be there, where you have saved it (the Desktop), than click upload.
That should normally work. With my XP on my PC in work i never have had problems. Just try it once more. I think you just loaded the wrong file up. I think you choosed the program instead of the game you wanted. |

COOKING BY GAS KATHY!! Well done!
You will never screw anything up by experimenting with solutions. They will either work or they won't.
If you right click on your solution (above) you will get a menu. Pick the one that says "Copy shortcut". STAY ONLINE. Now open up Bastion. Go to top left of the screen and click on "Game". On the drop down menu select "Open game" . Now paste the shortcut into the long box that says "File name". Wait for a minute or so and you will then see your solution evolving in front of you.
Don't be scared to try. Nothing sinister will happen. |

Kathy, 23 out of 27 are winnable. Got stock with Bastion #28. I would say, it is unwinnable, but missing always just 1 move, i am not (100%) sure. What do the others mean? I could score so long 6. |

I've given up on Bastion. I can't get anywhere. I'll win 4 or 5 games in a row and then lose 1, and my stats fall, and I'll win another 4 or 5, lose 1, and they fall again. Too frustrating. Besides, although you need some skill, if your cards aren't in the right place, you can't win. |

It is all too easy to forget that you can build up and down. We are so used to building down that in some situations we do so without thinking. Moving a six from one column onto a seven in another column may not be as good as moving the seven onto the six. I quite like Bastion. At least all your cards are visible. "All" you have to do is rearrange them into the correct order. |

Hi Richard, i played #28 also in the trial version (already last week). I got stock the same as yesterday at home. BUT, watching the situation, it took me 2 seconds to clear the problem. Maybe the English discussion have weekend my mind. ;-)

Open it. I have all cells filled, just the last pile is empty. The rules say, that in this case only one card should be moved. I accidentally clicken on the QH (with the KH) and both cards moved to the empty pile. I tried it with another pair of cards (some spades), and they also moved. What do you think? |

This bug (as noted) has already been reported and has been fixed for the next version, PGS 12.3, coming soon (as announced in the latest Goodsol newsletter).

Keep your eyes open for a call for beta testers for PGSME 2.20; you could be very helpful in making the next 100 games, plus a couple of new features, as solid as possible. (Besides, being a beta tester would give you early access to Pitchfork on the Mac.  )

BTW, Gregg, maybe in Bastion PGSME is a small bug. I have had one empty reserve pile and i wanted to put a Queen and a King (up in suit) to an empty pile. It doesn't work. Moving first the King to the empty reserve pile, then the Queen to the empty pile and then the King up to the Queen again, no problem.
I could move both cards together, if they are down in suit.
I will look today evening for a game with this situation and upload a file. |

How about Bastion #53?
Gregg, here is the upload.
The rules say:
"Groups of cards in the tableau can only be moved as a group if there are a sufficient number of empty cells or tableau piles available to store the cards individually."
When you click for example on the QC (with the KC), they should be moved. It works, when the cards are down in suit, but it doesn't work, when they are up in suit.

Confirmed. Technically, the group move is just a shortcut, so the game rules are followed correctly, but the convenience feature is not working completely. I have added it to the list of corrections for the next update.

I don't think, i have played it differently, but after getting the 3S down, i must have been blind as a goose (?). I just didn't see which pile is the right one after that. Maybe it was the up or down in suit problem you mentioned some time above. I didn't have to tell you, that i didn't use your solution. Hope, that next time it is really a strange one. |

What do you want! I was asleep! I have been busy trying to get our laptop working. It picked up a virus somehow. Thank you McAfee for NOT protecting it. What a pain getting it back on line. I was going to ask Gregg some questions. But I have it running now. When I wiped the hard drive clean the reload did not go right for some reason. The Olympics start in a couple of hours. I will be watching it non-stop. Unfortunatly it is already off to a bad start with the death of the Luge guy. Richard. Check the Osmosis stats in 101. KenM. Time for a bike ride? |

Yes Markus, I "took the opportunity" to move a king "onto" an ace. Yes I did this in 62 and 70. I did not pay any attention abouther if i needed to do so. I saw that move and used it. Maybe there is a route where it is winnable without this trick.
There should not be any differences between PGME and PGS. I will let Gregg know about it. I can explain it to him more precisely than you despite the fact that your English is improving all the time. |

Markus, I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Solitaire term "Wrapping". When you place a king onto an ace you "wrap" it. (Pronounced rap). In some games it is possible to continue to "wrap" until you get all of the tableau cards onto one huge column. |

i know "Wrapping". It is an important thing for example in Canfield. The rules did not mention it. So i think it is a bug in PGS. Let me know, what Gregg says.

It will say so in the rules after they fix it. There are always minor faults when new products are launched, that's one reason why they issue newer versions now and again. |

Ah, yes, those five points i had the very first attempt, but it was a dead end and after that just tried the other sequences.
Soon i have reached #200 and then i post ALL my losers, not only those i have asked. There are about 10 to 15 games i am not quite sure, if they aren't winnable. |

Your sight should not be blurry in the eye you had fixed now. But some people take longer I guess. Have you been back to the doctor. There should be no charge as it is a normal after surgery follow up. My only problem was I could see a slight bit of scar in one corner of my eye. But that is all gone now. |

My sight is only blurry when I read and when I use the computer because the screen is bright. I somehow scratched my eye this time, but the doctor said it will heal. I think I was just "out of it". I had not played #294 before just now Markus. The screenshot above is #296. Just a typing error in my post. I'd say that 3 is the maximum score for #294. |
