I was wondering, does a particular game number refer to the same deal on different versions of PGS? I ask, because I save game numbers of spider games I have trouble with, and come back to them later.

The game numbers are always the same game. The game number algorithm was different in very early versions of PGS (pre-1997), but I believe that since then the game numbers will always be the same.
The only exception is FreeCell and related games, where sometime a few years ago (perhaps 2002), the game numbers below one million were changed to match the game numbers in the FreeCell game that comes with Windows.
